This original abstract piece, created by Art by Bartuch (Est. 2023), is a vibrant exploration of color and texture on heavy-weight paper. The work utilizes a vertical orientation and presents a compelling visual narrative through its minimalist yet energetic composition.

Visual Composition & Style

The artwork features three primary vertical columns of color that suggest the "isles" referenced in the title:

The Left Column: A bold, saturated marigold orange, layered with hints of deep green and brown that peek through the brushstrokes.

The Center: An open white space, punctuated by delicate, "rain-like" vertical streaks of grey, light orange, and teal, creating a sense of mist or distance.

The Right Column: A rich emerald green, textured with visible vertical ridges and horizontal scrapings that reveal layers of yellow and white underneath.

A prominent horizontal "horizon line" or scrape runs across the lower third of the piece, cutting through the vertical columns. This creates a reflection-like effect, giving the impression of landmasses mirrored in a body of water.

Texture & Technique

Scraping & Layering: I have used a palette knife or squeegee technique, dragging wet paint across the surface to create "chatter marks" and raw, feathered edges.

Impasto Elements: Close-up views reveal a tactile quality where the paint sits atop the paper's grain, particularly in the green and orange sections.

Authentication: The piece features a sophisticated blind-embossed seal in the lower section of the paint, mirroring the black ink stamp on the reverse side: "ART BY BARTUCH - Est. 2023 - ORIGINAL."

Mood & Interpretation

Despite its abstract nature, "Emerald Isles" evokes a strong sense of place. The interplay between the fiery orange and the deep green—colors synonymous with Irish heritage—combined with the misty central void, suggests a coastal landscape caught in shifting light. It balances the heaviness of the pigmented "islands" with the airy, ethereal quality of the central "sea."
